The Andreasen Jewelry Design Award was founded in 2006 for the purpose of awarding couture, or "one of a kind," jewelry designers in the time honored tradition of museum quality jewelry. The purpose of this award is to foster and promote talent within the arena of jewelry design using precious materials and gems.
The recipient of the award will be judged on artistic merit in:
A. Composition and design
B. Wearability
C. Originality and use of materials
Why are we different from other awards?
Often artistry is defined by the pursuit of perfection within a given medium. As opposed to the simple pursuit of craftsmanship, the Couture Award Council is seeking to encourage artistry with vision. The individual who conceives and brings to fruition a work that is exceptional both visually and functionally will be the recipient of this prize.
Judging: Our judging panel is unique because it was formed by pooling a high level group of academic scholars, museum curators and art historians within the field of fine jewelry design. In the tradition of individuals such as Verdura, Lalique and Jensen, we are seeking to award a work in which beauty meets wearbility and results in art.
